Michael Goodloe

Michael Goodloe is a Black and Filipino storyteller born and raised in Laurel, Maryland—where the intersections of culture, race, and identity shaped the lens through which he sees the world. Navigating life in the DMV as a biracial man taught him early how to move between different spaces, communities, and expectations, often carrying the weight of belonging everywhere and nowhere at once.

His lived experiences—growing up in a multiracial household, confronting racial ambiguity in school and relationships, and learning how to build identity in the borderlands between Black and Asian culture—form the heartbeat of his writing. Michael’s work is grounded in honesty, vulnerability, and a desire to give voice to the often-unspoken complexities of mixed-race identity.

Today, he is a father, partner, real estate professional, and advocate for understanding the power and nuance of blended cultures. Through his memoir, The Blackapino, he hopes to offer recognition to those who feel unseen in their identities and to inspire readers to embrace the fullness of who they are—beyond labels, beyond assumptions, and beyond the boxes society tries to place them in.

Michael currently resides in Maryland with his family.
